This and That

As of today, we have officially had 5 snow days.  That is unheard of for us!  So, now Little N has 5 days of school to make up.  :(  As long as they don't take our Spring Break away, I'll be happy.  My wonderful parents offered to keep the kiddos one night (hubby and I were going to try to get to work at least one day, but it didn't work out) and on our way home with them, I noticed how beautiful it was outside as the sun was setting and the snow near our house was totally untouched.  So, although the kids were sleeping in the car, I had hubby pull into the driveway so I could grab my camera and we headed up to our pasture to have an impromptu photo session!

This is so typical of my little guy!

Now, I have to add a disclaimer....we were only out in the snow for MAYBE 5 minutes.  Had we been out any longer, and if we hadn't had to wake up the kids, I promise Miss LG would have been dressed warmer!

I cannot believe she is almost 8 months old already!  I will be working on her 8 month post soon.  And my Little N will be 7 in just a few months!

This face just makes me happy.....so very happy.

I live for moments like this!

Little N loves the computer.....and I LOVE that face!

A few weeks ago, we had a little photo session.  It was really cold and windy out and the kids were really not into it, but we managed to get a few good family pictures anyway.

Is she not just the cutest thing ever??  I just want to squeeze her cheeks off!  :)

 My boys....

And I think I'll leave you with a few pictures from this morning, Valentine's Day.  Little N had his party at school last Friday and then left with his buddy Cameron and his mom for a "play date" until I got off work.  The kids made cards for their parents, ate pizza, cupcakes, and candy and exchanged Valentines.  Little N had a good time!  Miss LG's class at daycare had their party today, although, it wasn't too exciting!  She did have a little bit of a cupcake though!

7 months old

Wow!  I cannot believe that Miss LG is already 7 months old!  Time sure does fly by.  It seems like just yesterday that we were waiting in the hospital to find out if it was "the day."  Since I hope to keep this blog as a journal, below is written for my little lady.

Miss LG, you are the light of our life!  You are such a happy baby--you hardly ever fuss or cry.  You love to be smiled at and spoken to, and you know your mama, dada, and bubba's for sure!  Anytime any of those names are said, you look all around to find the correct person.  This makes us all so happy--you know that we are your family and that we love you so much.  You want to crawl soooo bad and you can get up on all fours, but then you just crash face forward into the floor.  It won't be long now though...  Your dad keeps pushing you to crawl, and I keep questioning if he really wants to do that.  We can already tell that once you get mobile, you will be into EVERYTHING!  You are very inquisitive.  You can pretty much sit up on your own now, but sometimes you topple to one side or the other.  You laugh out loud when someone tickles you....and you seem to be ticklish all over!  You weigh 18lbs. 4oz. and are in the 76% of weight.  You are 27 1/4" tall and in the 83% of height (which I hope is an indicator that you will be taller than your mama!).  You have been eating baby food now for about 2 months.  You really like sweet potatoes (just like your daddy).  For awhile, you wouldn't have anything to do with fruits.  Now you like them pretty good, especially peach cobbler (again, like your daddy).  You are pretty much sleeping through the night now, but since you've been teething for the past month or so, sometimes you wake up, probably because you're in pain.  :(  You are a huge blessing to us and make our family complete.  We love you, pretty girl!

You love pulling hair, pinching noses, and pretty much clawing at anyone's face that is within reach.

We look forward to watching you grow up into a young lady and feel so blessed to have you as our baby!

Mommy

Snow....in Texas?? WHAT?

Yes, that's right.....we had SNOW....in TEXAS.  Ok, ok, we do get snow here every so often, but usually we just get nasty ice.  A few weeks ago we had a nice snowfall, probably 2 or 3 inches.  It was on a Sunday, and it started snowing late morning.  Little N was so excited and couldn't wait to go play in it!  He and the hubby tried to make a snowman, but it was a wet snow, so it didn't turn out too well.  They gave it a shot though!  Miss LG didn't know what to think about the snow....she was just cold and not interested at all!  Maybe next year...?  We were hoping for no school on Monday, but no such luck.  :(

This last picture is of the snow we got last year at Christmas.  Little N was missing a front tooth!

This weekend we are going to take some family pictures, so I'll be posting those soon too!  Friday is Miss LG's 7 month birthday, so I will be doing a post on that as well.  She is getting so big and is an absolute joy to have around.

It's Christmastime!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year!  We spent lots of time with each other enjoying family and friends (and the kiddos, of course, got tons of gifts!).

Our Christmas card picture this year.  What cuties!!

Every year we have a big family Christmas with my dad's side of the family (he has 3 brothers, so it makes for lots of people).  Santa comes, and the adults do a Chinese Christmas.  This year we had it at my parents house and had a blast!  We are all so busy during the year, it's hard to get together, so it's nice to see everyone at our annual family Christmas.  We used to do it on Christmas Eve, but most of us have other traditions, so we moved it to the Saturday before Christmas (or even the Saturday before that if it works better for everyone).  This year we did it 2 Saturday's before Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, we all went to my parents house again to celebrate (just our little family though).  We had Mexican chicken casserole and lots of snack foods, opened presents, and enjoyed each others company!

Little Miss LG!!  I have a picture JUST like this of Little N on his first Christmas.

Christmas morning at our house was fun with 3 kiddos!  They must have all been very good this year because Santa was good to them!

 Barely awake....

Big N liked his Rockstar shirt!

Little N got a Hexbug track--he plays with it everyday!

Miss LG didn't really know what to think about all the presents.

Miss LG absolutely ADORES her big brothers.  Anytime either of them walk into the room, she lights up and has the biggest smile on her face.  It just melts my heart.  :)

Little N loves castles.  Santa brought him this one that he can build and then color!

Big N got a dirt bike from his uncle.  Little N posed for a pic with him!

We couldn't have asked for a better Christmas!  Our beautiful, healthy children, no family health problems, 2 new, perfect babies (Miss LG and my adorable nephew!), great friends.  And we are all looking forward to a wonderful 2011.

Love,

I'm thankful for....

My Wonderful Family!!!  We had a nice Thanksgiving this year.  I am so thankful that we were all able to spend it together and everyone is healthy and happy.  My family has decided to try to make it a tradition every year to do the Turkey Trot near our hometown.  We participated in the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot this year (and afterward, I found out that it is the biggest Turkey Trot in the country!!  WOW!!)  There were over 30,000 people there and it was awesome!  My dad and I ran while my mom, brother, sis in law, Miss LG and my nephew walked.  My hubby and Little N hung out at the bounce houses while we did the 5k.  Here we all are before the race.

 It was soooo cold!!!

My running time wasn't as good as my last 5k, (it was 37 minutes this time), but I'm giving myself a break since there were so many people.  I was dodging walkers, strollers, and dogs the entire way!  It took my dad and I 11 minutes to get to the starting line after the whistle blew.  It was nuts, but so cool to see so many people coming together to support a great organization like the YMCA.
After the race we all stopped at IHOP to have a Thanksgiving breakfast then my little family headed home to get ready to go to my father in laws house for T-day dinner.  We had a nice time with the hubby's family (I didn't take any pictures there....bummer) and got home around 8pm.  I must admit, I am one of those crazy Black Friday shoppers.  This year WalMart decided to start their black Friday toy sale at 12:01am on Friday, but not till 5am for electronics.  What a nightmare!  So, I was up at 6am for the Turkey Trot on Thursday and not in bed until about 9:30 that night and I was going to try to make the midnight shopping at WalMart.  But...I didn't have to do it!  My awesome parents (who got to go home after the trot and have a nice long nap) :) got up and went for me!  They are too good to be true!  So, I got to sleep until 3am!  It was heaven!  The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and putting up Christmas decorations.  We had an awesome Thanksgiving and we have so much to be thankful for this year!

The two things I'm most thankful for this year!!

Purplestride

Today my family and participated in the Purplestride DFW 5k.  PANCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) puts on this event to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer research.  This organization is very close to my heart....we lost my mother in law to Pancreatic Cancer 3 years ago.  It is such a fast and deadly cancer.  It scares me.  My MIL was diagnosed on October 29th (I only remember that because it is the day after my birthday and is my father in law's birthday) and passed away on January 2nd.  2 months.  That's all she had.  See what I mean....scary.  We miss her so much.  Little N talks about her lots even though I'm not sure he really remembers her (he was only 3 1/2 when she passed away).  He knows that his Granny is in heaven and that she is his special angel.  I was so honored to be a part of Purplestride this year.  There were quite a few survivors there, which is odd since there aren't many survivors of this cancer AT ALL!  A few pics.....

Little N

I'm so glad that I got to spend the morning with people that I love!  And with people who feel as strong about fighting this horrible disease as I do.  We miss you Sherry and we know you were there with us today!

Halloween

I am a HUGE fan of Halloween....maybe because my birthday is so close???  We didn't do much this year, but I've made my hubby promise me that we will have a big costume party next year!  We went trick or treating in my parents neighborhood.  Lots of people decorate and there are some awesome houses that scare the tar out of Little N.  Miss LG is still too young to understand being scared, but I'm sure next year there will be a few streets we have to steer clear of!
